ANN ARBOR, MI – October 1, 2008 - LLamasoft, Inc., the leading provider of supply chain network design software, announces that its President and CEO, Don Hicks, will deliver three presentations at CSCMP’s Annual Global Conference 2008 in Denver, Colorado, discussing client cases in the areas of greenhouse gas emissions modeling, tactical production & distribution planning, and designing supply chains for developing countries.
The first session, entitled “Three Perspectives on Green Supply Chain Initiatives” will be presented in the Trends Emerging in Technology Track (#22) from 9:30 AM through 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. This session will be a moderated panel discussion also including Matthew Payne, Manager, SmartWay Development, US EPA SmartWay Transport Partnership, and Dave Dwyer, Manager of Sustainability for Sharp Electronics.
This session will explore why green supply chains are a necessity for companies that want to compete in today’s world. Since socially-responsible customers are making the conscious choice to purchase green products, a company’s ability to compete on its green credentials has become a competitive advantage and leads to direct economic benefits.
The second session, entitled “Optimize Capacity, Simulate Capacity: Drain the Risk out of Manufacturing Change” will be presented in the Leveraging Best Practices for Manufacturing Excellence Track (#12) from 2:30 PM through 3:30 PM also on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. Also a panel discussion, this session will be co-presented with Masashi Konagai, Supply Chain Analyst from the Coca-Cola National Beverage Company in Japan, and Astrid Tuin, Applications Engineer also from LLamasoft.
This session will delineate how the Coca Cola National Bottling Company of Japan (CCNBC) successfully employed a new, sophisticated approach to solve their capacity planning problem. They optimized production and distribution schedules based on their current-state and forecasts, then simulated the resulting plans to confirm feasibility, and to identify problems in advance.
The final session, entitled “Supply Chain Strategy and Network Design Issues in Delivery to Emerging Countries” will be co-presented with James Gibney a Logistics Advisor for John Snow Inc. working on the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT, in the Matching Supply and Need in Resource-Constrained Settings Track (#13) from 4:00 PM through 5:00 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2008.
This session will present a case study on modeling and optimizing supply chains in emerging markets. Numerous project case studies will be reviewed, focusing on product distribution efforts in Central America and Africa, and a tutorial will demonstrate how to apply supply chain design approaches to overcome the unique barriers presented by emerging markets.
“We are pleased to be invited to present in multiple sessions this year,” stated LLamasoft Executive Vice President, Toby Brzoznowski. “It allows us the forum to illustrate the depth and breadth of the applications of our Supply Chain Guru™ product and the benefits achieved by our customers.”
Demonstrations of the Supply Chain Guru™ product can be viewed at the CSCMP Learning Exchange, Learning Site #206, between the presentation sessions on Monday, October 6 from 11:30AM to 1:30PM and again from 3:30PM to 7:00PM.
