BBC discusses how the coronavirus effects the future of smartphones

With shops around the globe closing due to the coronavirus outbreak, it's unknown if they will open in time for the release of new electronic devices. Sources say cell phone manufacturers - such as Apple and Samsung - are analyzing whether to delay launch of new products, as development has been disrupted.

“Approximately 70% of smartphones are manufactured in China - so as the pandemic hit China, there has been significant disruption to the supply of existing devices”, said LLamasoft CEO Razat Gaurav. "The smartphone is a complicated product, and there are so many components that go into it. In order to source all of those different parts, you're getting materials and parts from about 40 different countries."
