A Letter from Don Hicks: LLamasoft Announces Partnership with TPG Capital

By Don Hicks  May 9, 2017

As many of you are aware, there are big things on the horizon for LLamasoft in 2017 and we can’t wait to share more info and celebrate with several hundred of our customers and stakeholders next month at our SummerCon conference in Detroit.

Very soon we’ll be launching the next generation of our flagship supply chain design offering, Supply Chain Guru, a product years in the making that will help make supply chain design faster, more powerful and more fun. Our engineering teams are also hard at work creating disruptive and badly needed new products for supply chain visibility, planning and demand modeling and we’re always looking ahead to solve the next challenge. These aggressive plans require resources and that’s why today we announced a new partnership with, and investment from, TPG.

TPG is one of the largest private equity companies in the world, managing a portfolio that includes over 150 companies, including Advent Software, Uber, Airbnb, Eze Software, IMS Health, Sabre, McAfee and Vertafore. TPG is known for its savvy investment approach and has identified supply chain technology as an undervalued and strategic market ripe for disruption — and they identified LLamasoft as the company best positioned to do the disrupting.

This deal is set up to benefit our customers, our consulting partners, our employees, and the supply chain industry as a whole will all benefit from this increased focus and investment in creating world-class supply chain software solutions.

Our relationship with TPG is truly a partnership and LLamasoft will remain an independent company under the same management and leadership team, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement. While the LLamasoft supply chain design platform is well-established and we are fortunate to have loyal and invested customers, we will soon be entering the market for both planning and visibility.  TPG believes in this approach and isn’t looking to change our plans, but rather to help us move even more quickly to get the best possible technology in the hands of our customers.

We look forward to sharing more of the journey in the coming weeks and months.

Very best,
Don Hicks, LLamasoft President and CEO
