The Digital Twin – Modeling the Unexpected

In preparation for Brexit, the U.K. built a stockpile of critical drugs to weather short-term trade uncertainties. But the unexpected demands and supply chain disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic have seriously impacted that stockpile.

In an interview with Pharmaceutical-technology.com, LLamasoft's Matthew Woodcock says that to plan for the longer term, it's critical for organizations to have full supply chain visibility and know where the critical points are. Algorithmic intelligence and cloud computing allow for rapid experimentation and modelling of supply chains – a “digital twin” – to account for the unexpected before it happens.
